Marie King grabs first place prize

Talented artist Marie King (Cing Design) grabs first place prize with beautiful painting of deer gathering in winter.Last week news was announced of 15 artists having their work shortlisted in the East of England craft makers and artists winter inspired competition. Each artist was required to submit an original, homemade, winter inspired creation and 3 winners have now been announced by Braintree-based candle makers company Cosy Owl.The winners were selected by a panel of judges. The winner has been named as Marie King from Bedfordshire who runs Cing Design. Marie is thrilled that her painting took pole position: "I’m thrilled to have won and hope that this helps my artwork to be seen by others. I absolutely love deer, I even chose one for my business, Cing Design logo. For one of my paintings showing the gathering of deer to win is marvellous." In second place came Jo German from Little Port, Ely in Cambridgeshire with her pyrography and leather design, and Katy Richardson from Chelmsford in Essex took the bronze with her owl sculpture.Richard Fewings of Cosy Owl commented: “We are pleased to have been able to give artists across Bedfordshire the opportunity to share their work with the community. We have been overwhelmed by the positive feedback from artists in the Bedfordshire area and we will definitely look to explore a future competition perhaps for the whole of the UK.”
